Get Smart was founded in 1983 to provide its clients with highly qualified, professional tutors for their students.  Get Smart has been continually serving the Tampa Bay area since the early 1990s.  We offer a large group of tutors for every subject and every level, including specialty tutors for advanced learners.  Our mission is to encourage, empower, and improve personal learning strategies so that each student will become an independent and successful learner. 

At Get Smart, we teach students cognitive learning strategies and reasoning skills that will enable them to understand the subject at hand as well as prepare them for any challenge ahead.  We focus on the students direct needs and do not have a standardized curriculum or program. Our office works closely with each client to insure that students are matched with a highly qualified and thoroughly screened tutor whose instruction method is compatible with the student's individual learning style.  We work on academic achievement as well as attitudes toward learning.  We promote self-esteem and confidence.  Our tutors are reliable and will find out what motivates the student to succeed and do their best in school.  We believe that all students learn differently, and that given the right learning environment, all students can succeed. 

The Get Smart service is flexible and can provide one-on-one or small group tutoring.  We can specialize sessions based upon the client’s needs and expectations.  In addition to specific tutoring requirements, we can offer test preparation, study skills and homework help.  Each session is fully customized to meet the needs of the student(s).   

Get Smart has over 100 tutors in our database that are able to teach a wide variety of subject matter.  Our tutors are all experienced professionals who know how to teach the student according to his or her learning style.  All our tutors have at least a Bachelor's Degree.  Many of them are current or retired public school teachers. Their expertise ranges from beginning learners through adults.  Some of the tutors specialize in working with students with learning disabilities and English as a second language.
