 FAQ

Who will be teaching my child?

Get Smart provides experienced, professional tutors to teach your children in the safe and comfortable environment of your own home.

What will you teach my child?

Tutors use your child’s school curriculum.  Your child will not be introduced to books or curriculums that their school does not provide and tutors are encouraged to communicate with your child’ s teachers to help with problem areas.

Will I have to make a long term commitment?

No, at Get Smart we believe that each student’s needs are different.  The time commitment to bring each student to excellence varies.  Because of that, we don’t make you commit to long-term contracts and you don’t pay in advance.

How long are the lessons?

Lessons are a minimum of 1 hour in length.  This time can be changed based on the need for improvement and the stamina of the student.  The sessions can be lengthened based upon the immediacy of the need.

How do I get started?

Its easy!  Call Get Smart toll free at (866) 451-8292 to get started.  We have tutors ready to assist your child in their study needs.

When and where do the sessions take place?

Tutoring takes place in the student’s home, usually after school or evenings and sometimes on weekends.  By special arrangement, tutors can meet your child in the environment of your choice (library, church, etc.).  Summer sessions can be scheduled for any time of the day.

Why do you want to come to my home?

Your home is the place where your child studies most of the time, and it provides a safe and comfortable environment for learning.

How is Get Smart different from a learning center?

Our tutors come directly to you and your child is taught in your own home.  Our sessions are one-on-one and only focus on the issues at hand.  We do not utilize a standardized curriculum and we don’t add extra work.  Also, there are no long term contracts and we don’t ask you to prepay your sessions.

Will my child be tested?

Get Smart will conduct a “point in time” evaluation to determine development needs.  However, we are not diagnosticians and do not charge additional fees for our testing.

What are your tutor’s qualifications?

Our tutors have at least a bachelor’s degree and many are credentialed teachers.  Each tutor is personally interviewed by Get Smart and background checks are conducted.

Can you tutor more than one child?

Yes, we will offer small group tutoring within a home setting if that best fits the family’s needs.

Are you part of a franchise?

Get Smart is a privately held company currently serving Tampa Bay and its surrounding counties.  It is not a part of a franchise.

Do you accept major credit cards?

Get Smart accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
